The project “Industrial heritage of northern Croatia as a strategic resource for regional branding” explores the industrial history of Varaždin, Koprivnica, and Čakovec with the goal of transforming it into a valuable cultural, tourism, and economic asset. Through historical analysis, the development of major industrial complexes is traced – from their origins and socialist-era modernization to contemporary challenges of preservation. The project combines academic research with applied marketing and branding, using methods such as SWOT and PEST analysis, benchmarking, surveys, and in-depth interviews with workers to identify the unique values of this heritage. The aim is to develop strategies that transform heritage into an attractive resource through digital marketing, industrial tourism routes, and collaboration with the creative industries. Outputs include a digital exhibition and strategic guidelines for regional branding. The project actively involves students and the local community, promoting sustainable development and strengthening regional identity. By connecting industrial history with contemporary cultural practices, the project positions heritage as a foundation for identity reinforcement and the creative development of Northern Croatia. It also contributes to the development of modern teaching methods and educational materials based on research findings, thereby enhancing study quality and supporting both educators and students. The project aligns with the goals of the Call by fostering scientific excellence, digital transition, sustainability, and open access, while strengthening cooperation with industry and contributing to the development of regional identity, culture, and social responsibility.
