Summary

The VIKTOR project - "Visual Identity, Communication and the Body Form of Representation" deals with the research of tattoos as a multi-layered phenomenon within non-verbal interpersonal communication. Starting from the assumption that tattoos are a form of permanent message on the body, the project will analyze how personal, group and cultural identity is constructed, displayed and perceived through them. Combining semiotic theories (Lotman, Eco), symbolic interactionism (Mead, Goffman) and an anthropological approach, the research will focus on mapping the meaning of tattoos in different social contexts. Special attention will be paid to the role of tattoos in shaping visual narrative, mechanisms of social reception and the impact on communication dynamics between individuals and the community. The project uses a methodological synthesis of quantitative and qualitative research: iconographic analysis, focus groups, in-depth interviews and visual discourse analysis. The goal is to form a scientifically based typology of the communication functions of tattoos in contemporary society. The results will be valorized through scientific publications, conference presentations, and a model for further applied research in the fields of communication studies, anthropology, and visual studies.
