Summary
The project addresses the widespread challenge of infections of the female reproductive system in the context of the growing problem of antimicrobial resistance. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the aim is to develop an integrated model that combines a multicomponent diagnostic strategy, therapeutic decision-making and education. The project includes conducting a multi-component standard microbiological and molecular analysis of cervicovaginal and other genitourinary samples, assessing the prevalence of specific pathogens and their antimicrobial resistance patterns, as well as developing digital tools for interpreting antibiograms. A special emphasis is placed on the rational use of antibiotics, including an analysis of the frequency of reported penicillin allergies in primary healthcare, which often leads to avoidance of first-line therapy and consequently contributes to rising bacterial resistance. The project also plans educational activities for students, healthcare professionals and the general public. The team brings together experts in clinical medicine, biomedicine, molecular biology, chemistry and public health. Project outcomes include improving the diagnosis and rational treatment of infections of the female reproductive system, developing digital solutions, facilitating knowledge transfer, as well as creating public-health recommendations aimed at reducing antimicrobial resistance and improving women's health.
