The KOMNET Project – Communication and Media of the New Age: Research Excellence and Skills Transfer is aimed at analysing the impact of new media and digital platforms on communication patterns and educational processes in higher education. The project focuses on social networks, collaborative tools, and interactive digital formats as phenomena that simultaneously shape public communication and transform modes of teaching, learning, and academic dialogue. KOMNET is based on an interdisciplinary approach encompassing communication studies, educational sciences, political science, law, and information technologies. The project integrates qualitative and quantitative methods—digital ethnography, platform analysis, and survey research—with the objective of understanding both institutional practices and individual patterns of new media use. The project develops and tests recommendations for the improvement of teaching practices, designs competence frameworks and open educational resources, and, through cooperation with the business and media sectors, enables the transfer of knowledge into practice. In doing so, it directly contributes to the implementation of the strategic objectives of University North, strengthens the capacity of the scientific community, and addresses the priorities of European educational and digital policies, including the Digital Decade and the Digital Education Action Plan.
