Summary

The project aims to develop and apply traditional Roman recipes in modern building renovations, with a special emphasis on sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. Six interconnected phases will involve interdisciplinary research into the composition and properties of ancient plasters, laboratory testing and formulation of modern materials that retain historical authenticity but meet the requirements of today's construction. A plaster testing laboratory will be established, new prototypes will be developed, their evaluation will be carried out and a pilot project will be carried out on a real cultural heritage site. The project also includes the preparation of technical documentation, training of experts and wide dissemination of results through workshops, publications and digital channels. The results contribute to the preservation of heritage, the development of green building and the digital transition in the construction sector. The project combines science, tradition and modern technologies, and its results are expected to remain accessible and useful in the long term, through the continuation of the laboratory's work and the open distribution of manuals and digital materials. Main objective of the project: The main objective of the project is to revitalize traditional, centuries-old Roman cement and mortar recipes through the application of modern production techniques and technologies, thus ensuring the long-term ecological sustainability of construction. By using natural and locally available raw materials and applying 100% hydrophilic methods in product development, the project actively contributes to the green transition in the construction sector and the protection of cultural heritage. Additional objectives: 1. Test and develop ecological construction mortars based on ancient recipes that will be adapted to modern standards and requirements for long-term use. 2. Produce new mortar recipes using hydrophilic methods, which, unlike conventional hydrophobic solutions, allow the wall to breathe and prevent the harmful effects of moisture and condensation in the long term. 3. Establish laboratory infrastructure and conduct multidisciplinary research, including testing on specialized production lines and testing compatibility with cultural heritage objects. 4. Develop a system for ecological rehabilitation of building structures in three key areas: o Structural rehabilitation from moisture o Thermal rehabilitation by improving masonry properties o Structural rehabilitation using newly formulated plasters 5. Apply the developed material in real conditions on objects of cultural value and document the effectiveness and non-invasiveness of the method. 6. Enable wide dissemination of the results through technical documentation, expert workshops, a digital platform and scientific publications. ________________________________________ This project integrates a scientific approach, tradition and modern technologies to create a specialized product for long-term, ecological and culturally sensitive rehabilitation, with the possibility of application on cultural heritage buildings and within the sustainable construction of the future.
